Oliver, one of our IAA course tutors, shares an update about the IAA Competence Assessments
In August 2026 the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) paused its competence assessment exams while they were being restructured.
This process is now apparently well under way and the IAA have announced that “assessments are anticipated to resume from November 2026” and that they are “working at pace” on this, which is encouraging.
There have been some changes made to the syllabuses, which will include an additional element relating to professional standards, and we hasten to add that at Pacific Legal Training we shall be amending our mock assessment papers to reflect this new change in emphasis.
So we anticipate that in the near future the IAA will be publishing new competence assessment dates.
